Earthstars
	Some of these extraordinary fungi grow to look like alien spaceships landing on earth. They are toadstools, and are closely related to the puffballs. In some Earthstars, the outer wall peels back like the skin of a banana, to form segments like a rocket launch pad. This helps to raise the "fruiting body" off the ground, so that the spores can puff up and away successfully, to colonise new lands.
