| In this introduction to pond studies the children are taught how to "pond dip" safely and to care for the pond minibeasts. Their catches are compared in different sites and the idea of a fair test is introduced. A video microscope is used to produce a visual record of the minibeasts discovered. These are identified using simple identification charts and keys. A passport to pond world helps the children study the minibeasts and encourages detailed observations and drawings. This programme takes half a day and can be combined with other programmes of study. |
