Learning Intentions: To talk about and recogise the ways that Christians celebrate Easter (PSE).
To select colours and tools in a simple paint program (KUW).
To choose colours and tools for a purpose (CD).
Child Speak Targets: I am learning to/can use different tools and colours to decorate a Easter Egg.
Key Vocabulary: festival, celebrate, Christmas, pattern, colour, tool, mouse, click, palette, paintbrush, size, undo, print.

In talking pairs, ask the children to plan the tools, tool sizes and colours that they are going to use:
What colour is your Easter egg going to be? Which tools are you going to use? What size brush are you going to use?

Striped egg template (right click on this link and save on your computer. Once saved open in the paint program.)
Ask children to fill the striped egg by creating a repeating pattern using the fill can tool.

Activity One
You will need: paper, scissors, paint, glue collage materials.
Children cut out an egg shape from different sizes and colours of paper. They then decorate their egg shape using paint or collage materials.


Discuss what happens when coloured tissue paper strips are put on top of each other. Compare this with the water colour effect in Colour Magic.

Activity Two
You will need: hard boiled eggs, paint, glue, glitter.
The children painted and decorate hard boiled eggs.

Thinking Questions: Why did you use the fill tool? How did you change the size of the paint brush?
Why did you use the undo button?
How would you improve your design?
Why are eggs important at Easter? Can you think of another way that Christians celebrate Easter?
