Nature Conservation

The Canterbury City Council are in charge of looking after a large area surrounding the city of Canterbury. This area covers over 31,000 hectares and includes a wide range of habitats.
The council are in control of many different activities all of which have an impact on the environment. In April 1995 they produced the Nature Conservation Strategy which explained how the council were going to make sure that these habitats were protected.
The Canterbury City Council have been involved in many projects to try and achieve this strategy.
