Who are we?
KWW is a development education project, funded by the Commonwork Land Trust, Oxfam, Christian Aid and the dioceses of Canterbury and Rochester.
What do we do?
We work mainly with schools and youth groups to raise awareness of global issues - everything from human rights to air pollution!
How do we do it?
We have a resource centre at 60 Marsham Street, Maidstone, which is stocked with books, packs and audio-visuals on global issues, such as the environment and world development. These items are available for loan or sale.
We provide advice for schools on how to incorporate environmental, multi-cultural and development issues into the curriculum.
We run conferences and training for teachers and youth leaders on global issues.
We run workshops and give talks in schools and youth groups
on:
· Environmental issues
· Root causes of poverty
· Third World Debt
· Fair Trade
· Tourism and Development
We support Local Agenda 21 work in the county, and focus on involving young people in the process.
We network with many related organisations in Kent who are working towards sustainable development. We produce a newsletter called Network 21 which shares information on Local Agenda 21 activity in Kent. We have a database of 1000 interested organisations and individuals.
If we can't help you - we will know someone who can!
