Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve is situated five miles eastof Canterbury. Travelling from Canterbury take the A257, Sandwich Road and turn left passed the Golf Course into Stodmarsh Road. A car park is situated up the track leading from the village of Stodmarsh, nextto the Red Lion Public House. (Grid Reference TR 221609)
What is Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve?
Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve covers 241 hectares of wetland and is characterised by extensive reedbeds, lakes and associated bird populations. It is a Special Protection Area and also a Wetland of International Importance under the Ramsar Convention. The reserve is managed by English Nature as a National Nature Reserve.
What facilities are there?
Facilities include a small car park, a fully accessible toilet, three hides (one which is fully accessible), two nature trails (one which iseasy access), footpaths and information panels.
When is it open?
There is open access to the reserve at all times.
