The houses on Willow Close are unlike the houses opposite the allotments, as they are built on the floodplain. This is , therefore a high risk area everytime the river floods. Early warnings of floods are essential, alerting the home owners and telling them of the actions they need to take all help minimise the damage of floods. For example moving all furniture upstairs, placing sandbags at doors and using water pumps are measures which can be taken. |
