Safety First

Always go with an adult you know or else let a grown up know where you are going.

Care for the Environment

Always follow the countryside code.

If you collect any creatures to study always handle them gently and return them to the place where you found them.

Please do not pick wild flowers. Draw or photograph them instead

What you will need

Suitable outdoor clothing.

Carrier bag.

Notebook and pencil. (include some plain paper for drawing)

Paintbrush.

Empty film containers.

Small jar with perforated lid.

Double sided sticky tape stuck onto card strips.

Observascope ( 20 cm length of cardboard tube).

Clinometer (visit this page again soon to find out how to make and use one).

Small mirror (dental mirror if you have one).

Identification Key for plants and animals (You could make one of these using the information on these web pages.)

Binoculars and camera (with flash and close up lens) if you have them.
