Ladybird
There are 44 species of Ladybird. One species is a plant eater (herbivore), the rest are meat eaters (carnivores). They hibernate in the winter. The larvae are slate blue in colour. Sometimes swarms of Ladybirds are seen, a great help to the gardener but a little painful in large numbers because they can nip!
Ladybirds eat :
greenfly (aphids) and other small insects.
Ladybirds are eaten by:
birds, badgers, shrews, other small mammals.
